[batrep] Warhammer 40k 8th edition - Space Wolves vs T'au

Bringing the big boys to play with little grey aliens, I made this insane mecha list for Space Wolves: The Fang of Fenris, Bjorn, Murderfang, Wulfen Dread and company led by an Iron Priest!

Deployment is as aggressive as possible with the large buildings on the table.

The T'au trust on the power of their Riptide and take cover on defensible positions.

Overview of the engagement area.

The Ethereal protects this Spy drone as they are the objective markers, there is one on each deployment zone and a third on the middle of the battlefield.

The ethereal is well protected behind solid concrete walls and Firewarriors are positioned to cover anything that approaches.

The central objective is within sight of the incoming Space Wolf units.

But knowing they have to take the fight to the Xenos, the warriors of Fenris ignore it and advance forward, following the heavy thunder of the Knight's battle cannon.

The T'au move forward and hail down withering fire on the Knight, leaving it by it's last few wounds only.

The Knight ignores the damage and surges forward, peppering the large enemy with fire that gets intercepted by protective drones.

The rest of the pack can't quite match the speed of the furious engine and lag behind for a second assault.

Failing it's charge move towards the Riptide, the warrior furiously stomps at the ground in frustration...

... when the coward xenos drifts back and opens up with his weapons once more.

More xenos drop down on the battlefield in a display of bold foolishness.

The Fang of Fenris, barely consious and clouded by fury and pain, charges forward and engages the agile Battlesuits.

On the backfield, a single Dreadnought protects the backline against Xenos treachery.

The Xenos fall back again, losing territory...

... but the price paid is too much as smoke bellows from within the heavy carapace of the Knight Titan before a deep rumble results in a huge explosion and the Knight is no more.

Firewarriors cheer at the astounding display of their prowess.

The Riptide quickly repositions forward and is able to draw fire on the enemies behind the buildings, destroying yet another of the ancient, crude machines that have no value in their eyes.

Bjorn, Murderfand and the Iron Priest are ready to avenge their fallen brothers.

And prove their might in close combat, finally bringing down the enemy behemoth.

However, the T'au are organized on their return fire and inflict damage that only Bjorn`s legendary tenacity can withstand.

The Space Wolves have the territory, with the Fang's sacrifice came much room to manouver, but the Xenos treachery proves itself a challenge as they take to the skies.

The fierce fighters have no option but to use their inferior ranged weapons against the superior firepower of their foe.

But the enemy ultimately has to engage or lose strategic objectives on the ground level. Bjorn is finally felled by the enemy Battlesuits as they fight for control of the xenos spy drone.

But their deaths come quickly by the unbounded rage of the Murderfang that makes short work of the enemy units securing a victory for the sons of Russ.
