Had a chance to spruce up and finish this old man!
Castellan Jarek Varos
Born in the subterranean Kasrs of Cadia itself, Jarek Varos enlisted into the Whiteshield youth corps at age ten and survived decades of brutal siege warfare along the Eye of Terror before earning his Castellan’s sash. Having fought through some of the most hellish meat-grinders in the Segmentum, he was reassigned to command the Cadian 414th "Ash-Walkers"—the reinforced infantry corps that now forms the core frontline anchor for Task Force Arcana-Nine. Varos is a grim, heavy-set officer who wears his scuffed power sword and battered carapace armor with stubborn pride. He views this frontier deployment as standard operating procedure, grateful for the endless supply of heavy munitions and armor support, even if he finds the logistical circus of coordinating with Mordians and Steel Legionnaires mildly insulting to standard Cadian doctrine.Varos’s leadership style is rooted in cold, defensive perfectionism and unyielding Cadian discipline. He commands from a forward trench bunker, managing his eighty-plus infantrymen and twelve Heavy Weapon Teams with the mechanical precision of an artillery officer adjusting coordinates. He does not indulge in dramatic speeches, preferring clear, rhythmic orders that keep his men firing in disciplined, overlapping las-volleys. Varos tolerates Commissar Cole’s grandstanding because it boosts morale, but he fiercely protects his troops from unnecessary waste, routinely clashing with junior officers who view Cadian lives as cheap fodder. While he harbors a deep suspicion that Inquisitor Drakos is using his Cadian lines as a massive distraction for something underground, Varos holds to a simple, unshakeable philosophy: so long as the supply trains run and the artillery keeps firing, his men will hold the line until the last magazine is dry.
