[hobby] Warhammer 40k - Trygon/Prime/Malwoc Finished

The Trygon I started about a month ago is finished!

I always loved this beast since it was available exclusively in Resin from Forgeworld back in 2005!
Having a full Tyranid Army and finally adding this model to it has certainly been dream come true.

Below is a detailed walkthrough of my process, which boils to following the tutorial from Cult of Paint here but altering the Carapace – painted with Turbodork Scarab – and not tinting the drooly bits red, all done with u-hu glue. My bases simply use eggs that re painted beads glued on and cork.

Work in Progress and Paint Guide

Base

Base is cork. The egg clusters are beads on hot glue and I cover most of the ground with a mix of grout, sand and modge podge.

Prime

Prime black with a rattlecan (I use GW primer)

Skin

Next is an airbrushed coat of Ironrach Skin.

Base gradients

That is followed my the process from the cult of paint video: airbrushed contrast paints Coelia greenshade and Carrobur Crimson, folled by a drybrush of the base paint over it.

Pinks

I then hit all joints and muscle vents with contrast Volupus Pink

Contrast base colors

I use white on eyes, theeth. Also hit any toxin sacks or other fleshy bits with the base color again.

Drybrushed details

I drubrush Vallejo Squid Pink on mouths and for this model did some glazing of vallejo Violet Ink on the antenna.

Carapace Base and contrasts

Paint all carapace black and go over details with some contrast paints: Bad Moon Yellow, Striking Scorpion Green and Darkoath Flesh on different fleshy/bulbous areas of weapons and appendage.

Base painted

Base is painted black and drybrushed with grey and offwhite. I also hit the base details with the same base colours of the model.

Seal everything in with Matt spray (I use Mr. Super Clear matt).

Technical paints and varnish

This is the moment where we start adding GW's Blood for the Blood God over the mouth as well as over the "holes" on the tail and head.
We also add gloss varnish over claws, eggs, mouth/teeth.
Tesseract glow on eyes.

Carapace Metallic layers

We finally brush on 3 layers of Turbo Dork's Scarab green.
Gotta go slow and dillute to prevent foaming as it is a varnish based paint.

Special Effects

Add U-HU glue stringy bits and call it done!
